History Of is a compilation album released in 1984 by Indiana hardcore band Zero Boys. The compilation draws tracks from 3 different sources, including the February 1983 "Payback Is Hell" album recording session (tracks 1-7, 9, 12-13), the June 1982 "Master Tape" session (8, 10, 11), and the track "New Generation" (previously released on the Red Snerts comp in May 1981, 14). In June 1983, Zero Boys were to release their 2nd studio album "Payback Is Hell". The album was recorded in early 1983, and was to be a self-released album under vocalist Paul Mahern's "Affirmation" record label, similar to the bands 1981's album Vicious Circle released under the band's own imprint. Frustrated, in February of 1984, the Zero Boys self-eeleased the "History Of..." cassette tape on 500 copies, featuring select tracks from the session, as well as previously released songs from Vicious Circle. Due to the album's lack of release, the band felt burned out, only performing a few shows every couple months in 1984-85 until disbanding when guitarist Terry Howe moved to Florida in 1986. In 2008, upon being contacted by label Secretly Canadian to reissue Vicious Circle, Paul Mahern mentioned a possible reissue of the History Of cassette, which had not been known by the label due to it's obscurity. History Of was reissued the following year with a new remaster, a
