Album
Hissing Prigs in Static Couture is the third album by Dayton, Ohio indie band Brainiac. Released on March 26th, 1996 with Touch & Go Records, the 13-track work emphasizes a more electronic-based direction for the band (in comparison to previous albums and EPs such as Bonsai Superstar). Containing Brainiac's most successful and wide-reaching songs, such as "V1NC3NT COM3 ON DOWN" and "1ND1AN POK3R - PART 3," the album was described as "futuristic pop" by lead singer Tim Taylor. Hissing Prigs in Static Couture foreshadows the electro-punk style of their 1997 EP Electro-Shock for President. The era of this album's release is also where Brainiac began to adopt its highly stylized spellings (for example, "3RA1N1AC") and 70's-influenced attire.
