"Hiss" is written by Thee Stallion with long-time co-writers Joel Banks and Shawn "Source" Jarrett, who produced the song with LilJuMadeDaBeat, Bankroll Got I and Derrick Milano. Publications reported that the lyrics address different dissing toward, Drake, Tory Lanez, Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty, as well as Thee Stallion's ex Pardison Fontaine. An official music video, directed by Douglas Bernardt, was published on January 26, 2024 through the rapper's YouTube channel. Megan Thee Stallion becomes the first female rapper to have multiple solo songs reach #1 on the global Apple Music singles chart ("HISS" and "Body"). “HISS” remained at #1 on Apple Music US for 140 hours, so far.
