Hanging on the dream is the début album of Spyros Pan and it is a Hang solo CD. Spyros has been working on his compositions for over a year and his efforts resulted in a 12 track album recorded in July 2009 and release on the 11th of Novermber 2009. Capturing the sound of the Hang is a challenging task. For this reason a rather experimental approach to recording was taken using a mix of several vintage mics and special mic placements in Studio A of the Sierra Studios complex. A total of 12 Mics were used to capture the full sound of the hang and then mixed on a NEVE 8078 40/32 analog console. In fact it was the very same console that Pink Floyd used to record the 'Dark Side of the Moon' album. The mix down of the 12 individual microphone signals varies from track to track depending on the necessity of each thus resulting in an organic fusion of sounds. The mastering of the album was completed in the UK by Christopher Leary (aka Ochre) of Melograph Mastering LTD . The CD comes in Digi-Pack format and also includes a 16pp booklet with a selection of abstract images taken from Spyros' personal portfolio. The booklet also features graphic illustrations that accompany the images, a short note about the message the music is trying to convey, information on the Hang and a poem. Only a couple of months after the release date more than 400 copies have found their way in CD collections all over the world from Japan to Argentina and Greece to the UK.
