about this album

Drawing inspiration from the film “Gummo” for the title, Tekashi69’s Gummo is an anthem for his scream-rap style, with references to causal gang relations and a music video full of Blood-related visuals. For this track, Tekashi69 used one of Pi'erre Bourne’s beats that were originally for Trippie Redd. However, Trippie sent this to 6ix9ine and he recorded Gummo. Pierre was not aware of the transaction, and he disliked 6ix9ine for his record from 2014 of being present in a situation where there was alleged sexual misconduct with a minor, which is not sexual assault or sexual relations. This incident was only brought to the attention of authority because the girl went missing. Even though this incident was in 2014 and that 69 was not guilt of any wrong-doing, due to Tekashi69’s boom in popularity from “Gummo”, the Hip Hop community media have only recently, in 2017, become familiar with 69, and have largely misinterpreted this to be a more recent thing. This includes Pi'erre himself, who claims he will never work with Trippie Redd or 6ix9ine again. In terms of popularity, Gummo has reached over 30 million views on Youtube, and has reached the 1st place on Soundcloud’s streaming charts, for all of December 2017.
