The original '78' vinyl studio recording was made in 1958 by Trio Recodings at 6, Denmark Street , London. After the group rehearsed each number twice, the record was cut on the third performance. Track 1, 'Frankie and Johnie' was Coffer's interpretation of this classic ballad. The 'adventurous' vocal 'Smokestack Lightning' Track 2, sung by Woollard (with solo guitar) was based on the original recording by Howling Wolf.
