Fingerpicking.net © 2010 “Green”: Simone Agostini’s debut album Italy - a country of artists and musicians, many known the world over for their talent. Simone Agostini (1981) is no exception. In winning the European Emerging Acoustic Guitar Artist (“Emergenza Acoustic Showcase”) 2007/2008 contest, Simone was awarded with a custom Ovation acoustic guitar. Simone also won second prize in the New Sound of Acoustic Music” 2005, the most important Italian acoustic guitar competition (held every year in at the “Acoustic Guitar International Meeting”). Having recorded for a short film (“Radici”, 2006) and an Italian TV spot (“Un buco nel Muro”, 2005), Simone’s full-length recording debut is called “Green” (2009). It is an instrumental album driven by the acoustic guitar, Simone’s main instrument and lifelong anchor. Simone draws on the influences of masters such as Paolo Giordano (who contributes slide guitar on the final track of the album, “Little Suite DS”) and Pierre Bensusan (with whom Simone studied in France in May 2008). “Green” is a solitary and introspective journey through the emotions, pictures and tales of Abruzzo, the green region of Italy. “..the technique is always at the service of composition and the pursuit of musicality prevails over virtuosity.
