Scorching leads, thundering bass and frenetic, Keith Moon style-drumming (from Richard Guppy) abound in this wonderfully crafted original release for UK's Gorilla from Luna Sound Records (2001). The records explodes from your speakers with the very best for hard-rock/stoner rock listeners: blasts of guitar-heavy rock (and I mean HEAVY) leads, great riffs and solos, and yet also prominently feature terrific melody and groove enough to satisfy the listener searching for top-notch musicianship----they are tight, loud, and not without unexpected, occasional softer interludes that invariably come back around to the HEAVY! This is a truly GREAT record if you are a fan of rock, 'stoner rock' et. al., or classic rock. Gorilla has two subsequent releases on the 'Go Down' label, and though their drummer bowed out after their first s/t record, Johnny Gorilla (Redfern) (vocals & guitars) and Sarah Jane Gorilla (Russell) (bass) continue on stronger and stronger with each release. Gorilla is a seriously-talented hard-rock outfit; if you have not yet discovered them, godspeed to the Internet and look them up...you will NOT be disappointed!
