From the Label: Balancing between tongue in cheek criticism and expert execution, Alexis744's 'Generic Funk for Abstract Purposes' pulls off some of the best metacognitive awareness this side of Jung. By identifying and dissecting the prominent features of the future funk genre the Peruvian sample scientist is able to commodify them with a truly post-consumer artistry. The premises of this album belie the fact that this album is anything but "generic". It serves as a great primer to the styles typified by the "featured artists" and their real world counterparts. With tracks like Obsession taking aim at the disco edit styles of a certain 82-99 monikered musician and some clear inspirations form a certain luxurious artist on the Seductive Intermission (ft. Horny Elite) track, Alexis744 manages to appropriate entire styles and pull them off effortlessly for the fun of it. And make no mistake, kind listeners. It IS fun. From the Artist: "This is a future funk/vaporwave project that contains 8 tracks and lasts 30 minutes. This is my second concept project after "Nightlife". It is based on the classic formula of the genre and uses the archetypes of the known artist and styles to make a criticism to the exploitation and standardization of genre." credits released September 12, 2021 User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
