Gastrophonic is a solo project of the composer Guilherme Castro, member of the band called S.O.M.B.A. It's an experimental project that uses researches about fusion of poetry, music and video, using the interactive factor as an intersection point between those languages. An experienced musician, composer and musical producer, Guilherme Castro decided to release a work of experimental songs. In this work, named Gastrophonic, quite different from previous works with the band S.O.M.B.A., he explores and researches others possibilities given by current technologies. By the use of Max/MSP (a programming environment) patches specially developed to this project, this work uses the aesthetical experimentation in the poetry/lyrics toward to a musical equivalent. The poems reveal the influences of great writers from Minas Gerais, such as Guimarães Rosa and Carlos Drumond de Andrade, and the themes are strong and ludic, reflecting the contemporaneity and its idiosyncrasies, with a lot of criticism. In the musical dimension, the experimental factor occurs by the use of elements of concrete music in pop songs, giving dramatical status to them, increasing its semiotics possibilities.
