Album
Are you kidding me? Why this album never made it to huge is beyond reason. Tangier's Four Winds was their first effort on ATCO Records. Lineup: Bill Mattson - vocals, Doug Gordon - Guitars, Gari Saint - Guitars, Garry Nutt - Bass, Bobby Bender - Drums. Very Heavy, Blues based Hard Rock of the finest kind. This album really cooks from beginning to end. The pedigree sounds like a mixture of Paul Rodgers meets Clapton meets Led Zeppelin meets BB King. From Ripcord to On the Line - every track on this is gold. Mattson sings his ass off on this album and really would have to be put up in the top 10 of great rock vocalists - he is THAT good. Doug Gordon wrote all of the material and plays some really killer old school guitar, both slide and regular; bouncing off Gari Saint all the way through. As good as Mattson is on vocals, Gordon is on guitars and songwriting. On the Line and Southbound Train were the two singles of the album; although Mississippi should have been as well. Killed by grunge and overzealous A & R geniuses who signed too many mediocre bands, Tangier tried one more time with their follow up album "Stranded".
