Florida Jit is Smokepurpp’s second studio album and the follow-up to his December 2019 debut album, Deadstar 2. The album is largely produced by Ronny J, who has worked with Purpp since the beginning. During his set at Rolling Loud 2019, Purpp first mentioned that he was working on an album with Ronny J. He officially announced the album in his January 2020 interview with Complex. On April 18, 2020, Smokepurpp announced, during an Instagram Live session for Rolling Loud, that the album would be dropping on May 15, his 23rd birthday. He also announced that it would feature Young Nudy, among others. On May 14, 2020, Purpp delayed the album and instead released its lead single, “Off My Chest,” featuring his best friend and favorite collaborator, Lil Pump. The album’s second single, “It’s Whatever,” was released on May 29. Also that day, he announced that the album would be released on June 5. Due to nationwide protests following the unjust murder of George Floyd, Smokepurpp postponed the album out of respect for the movement. He also postponed the released of the third single, “Pop Shit.” The song was eventually released on June 10, a week after it was originally supposed to. On June 12, Purpp unveiled the album’s artwork, tracklist, and final release date. The fourth single, “Big Dawg,” was released on June 17, two days before the album. Florida Jit failed to break onto the Billboard 200 charts, only selling 5,000 copies first week. User-contributed text is available u
