Floating Feather is the debut release of Fox and the Bird, a folk/rock band based in Dallas, Texas. The 11 tracks on the album were written and performed by a rotating cast of five songwriters that came together in 2009. The songs on this album are poetically simple but musically complex, with a seemingly timeless quality to the songwriting. The album blends guitar-based compositions with folk and orchestral instrumentation to create roots music with resonance. The band transforms into a small folk choir to perform these songs, with gang vocals and layered harmonies. It's communal. Floating Feather represents the early years of Fox and the Bird.
