about this album

Flashback is a 1978 album by German composer/conductor Eberhard Schoener. Even the intro to "Trans-AM" lets you guess how bizarre and extraordinary the music can sometimes be on the present recordings. Accompanied by the humming in the background synthesizers chords of a rock trio sound like the proud brass section of a symphony orchestra. The rock trio was to come, under the name "Police", to world success very soon. But before that happened, Police had participated in the very strange "Flashback" experiment by Eberhard Schoener from the perspective of a commercial world success. The future policy manager must have been very scared of the bandwidth of "Flashback", he should have been careful not to mention the most experimental chapter in the history of The Police. Maybe the manager was a little embarrassed by the fact that Schoener made poor Sting sing extremely high, almost at the limit of his potential. I can not imagine that friends of world hits like "Every breath you take" could do a lot with the performances of "their" band on "Flashback". The first side of this LP, "From the New World," has an unreal world of fusion-fanned, extremely high-pitched, spherical rock songs, an electro pop number ("Why do not you answer"), as well as orchestral and electronic elements. The unfortunately very short "Powerslide" (closets to 'traditional' Progrock of all the songs) offers the melody-oriented keyboard work of Schoener, who is supported by the Police Trio without singing.
