Arguably the best attempt at Anglo-Americana alongside efforts by Brinsley Schwarz, Help Yourself, Cochise and Heads Hands & Feet. Morris wore his The Band heart firmly on his sleeve and produced a superb album that sank into the depths of obscurity, undeservedly but somewhat predictably in a UK climate of Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash and Black Sabbath. Lacking a little of the originality of Nick Lowe or Malcolm Morley - you can almost pick the specific Band tune he's been listening to e.g."Poor Lucy" (Katie's Been Gone) - this is nevertheless an immaculately executed outing for any fans of that select bank of Brits who didn't do progressive rock, but weren't a singles pop band either, so took their cue from rootsy Americana. A must hear, for sure. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
