For Darshan Ambient's Michael Allison, texture and mood are his specialties. His flowing, slightly abstract, always compelling sound portraits are like a door to another world. He continues along these sonic journeys with FALLING LIGHT, a fresh collection of ambient gems from the artist. Listen to a song like "To Look at Winter," and you really get a sense of place; you can almost imagine sitting at a windowsill and reflecting, as snowflakes blanket the view outside. "Forgotten Sky" likewise bears a pensive quality, with a hopeful melody that suggests limitless horizons. Whereas these two tracks are soft and tranquil, mixing synthesizer ambience with light piano, other songs have a jazzy tinge, like the title track and "A Boat Beneath A Sunny Sky," incorporating rhythm, guitars and horns into the fold.
