The Frenchman Antoine Laval, who grew up in a small town between Hamburg and Bremen and is the son of a jazz musician, learns to play the piano at the age of six and switches to drums for his first indie band ten years later. Reflecting on his classical education, Laval combines these two disparate affinities in his neo-classical project LAVALLE. Inspired by Nils Frahm, as well as by the electronic sounds of the early James Blake or David August, the Hamburg-based artist creates narrative piano sketches that follow a red thread or invite the listeners to explore.
