Album
Extraordinormal is the debut full-length album by Canadian artist Laura Sauvage (the solo project of Vivianne Roy, also known from the folk-country trio Les Hay Babies). Released in March 2016 on Simone Records, the album marks a shift from her earlier folk influences to a more indie rock and garage-pop sound. Recorded at Wild Studio in Quebec with collaborators Dany Placard (co-producer and bassist), Olivier Langevin (guitar), Ben Bouchard (keyboards), and Mathieu Vezio (drums), Extraordinormal blends sardonic storytelling with a lo-fi aesthetic. The album features both upbeat tracks like “Rubberskin” and “Jesus Wants To Be My Buddy,” as well as more introspective songs such as “No Direction Home” and “You’ve Changed (Wild Session).” Critics have compared Sauvage’s style to artists like Courtney Barnett and Pavement, noting her ability to capture the extraordinary in everyday life . Extraordinormal received positive reviews for its authentic and relatable narratives, and was nominated for multiple GAMIQ awards, including Rock Album of the Year and Singer-Songwriter of the Year .
