Hobbs is best known in dance circles for switching the masses onto leftfield electronica and the darker, bass-heavy staples of the UK underground such as dubstep, grime and drum'n'bass via her weekly radio show Experimental (formerly Breezeblock). As one of dubstep's first and foremost cheerleaders, last year she also curated Sonar's first ever dubstep showcase in Barcelona, where she returns again this year with Shackleton, Flying Lotus and Mala in tow. Like her first compilation The Warrior Dubz (2006), Evangeline brings together cuts from established names in dubstep (Pinch, Boxcutter, Shackleton), grime (Wiley) and techno (Surgeon, Claro Intelecto) with newcomers such as Unitz and Ben Frost. The compilation also includes cuts from two anonymous (but presumably well-known) producers: Cult Of The 13th Hour and Dakimh.
