The Jacobins' first EP, was described shortly after release as having a "nice low-fi feel, whilst still retaining a professional sound about itself" (Raamb Recordings, 2010), it is a self made EP which lead guitarist Oisin Conolly mixed and produced. Track 1, Hey Batman! (Where's Robin?), was the first song ever written by The Jacobins in late 2008 when the band formed. Tracks 2 and 3, A Thousand Stars and City Lights respectively, were created in mid 2009 and it was then that the band started talking about recording an EP. Initially the EP was to only have 3 tracks, but after a long day in the studio while The Jacobins were winding-down, they decided to start recording what eventually became track 4, City Lights Outro. This track started off as a bit of fun and experimentation but gradually grew in complexity to the point where they decided to add it to the EP as a sort of 'Bonus Track'.
