The third EP by Travis Lausch, "Empires" features three new songs and one of the first quality recordings he has created. The three new songs include the powerful "Fortification", which is the first song Travis recorded in his "new standard 7-string tuning", the dreamy "Tolerance" which features some of his favourite synth work to date, and the title track, which is a rare example of Travis playing keyboard instead of using a software synth. "City Of Dreams" was one of the first songs Travis had ever recorded, and is included here as well, as a sort of conclusion to having the acoustic version as a bonus track on "Home".
