Doomsday Machine is the sixth full-length studio album by Swedish metal band Arch Enemy. It was released on July 19th, 2005 via Century Media Records. Recorded from March to May, 2005 at Slaughterhouse Studio in Halmstad, Sweden, it was produced by Rickard Bengtsson, and mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap in May, 2005 at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, United Kingdom. This is the third record to feature vocals by German singer Angela Gossow, with guitars by brothers Michael Amott and Christopher Amott, bass guitar by Sharlee D'Angelo and drums by Daniel Erlandsson. Doomsday Machine achieved some commercial success, reaching the 87th place on the Billboard 200, selling about 12,000 copies. It also features additional keyboards and assistant engineering by Ola Strömberg. Famed Firewind and Nightrage Greek guitarist Gus G guest leads on second track "Taking Back My Soul", while overall backing vocals where provided by Swedish singer Apollo Papathanasio. The artwork & concept were by Michael Amott and Joachim Luetke, who also provided the layout for the album, whereas photography was provided by Paul Harries. Lead guitarist Christopher Amott left the band shortly after the recording of the album was completed on July, 2005.
