“Doomsday” serves as the lead single to Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade’s upcoming compilation album. The track features a posthumous verse from Juice WRLD, as well as Cordae. The track was first confirmed by Cole himself, on both Twitter and Instagram, where he announced that a new single would be coming out in the same week. Cole also confirmed that the song was never before heard: "first single off the lyrics lemonade album drops this week. LLJW 🕊️ and no it’s not a song you’ve already heard. it’s never touched the internet before." That same day, leaks announced that Cordae would also be in the song. Moments later, a snippet of the music video would be teased with the beat of Eminem’s 1999 song Role Model playing in the background. The next day, the official cover art, the title of the song, and the release date would all be revealed on June 20, via a tweet from Cole himself, stating: "DOOMSDAY. Juice WRLD & Cordae. The first single from the Lyrical Lemonade album. This Friday. 🍋💿" In his opening lines, Cordae uses the same lyrics as those found in the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher in which he participated.
