Growing up in a musical household and studying classical viola throughout his childhood, Bryan McAllister made a hard left turn in college towards improvised music, and found his voice at the keyboard. His compositions draw influence from diverse sources, from the leitmotifs of Wagner operas to post-hardcore stylings of Glassjaw. Bryan realizes these compositions with his various modern jazz ensembles, balancing minimalist counterpoint textures with soaring melodies and anthemic improvised solos.
