about this album

Desert is the first full-length album by Finnish metal band Antipope. The album is released in the internet by the band and is not yet available in any physical format. Desert goes further into mixing extreme metal with heavy metal and moves to the territory of alternative metal. The synthesizers are used yet more as the band moves further from the traditional heavy metal sound. The album was recorded between November 2009 and February 2010. This is the first album to feature an acoustic song by Antipope. The overall theme of the album revolves around unconscious forces driving human beings to become estranged from each others. Included is a 11 minutes long epic "Eternal Champion", which takes a look at the fictional character Elric of Melniboné created by the author Michael Moorcock.
