The Black Poets "Departure Album Sampler" was created as a way for the public and industry to get an insight into Black Poets' forthcoming debut album. The tracks on the album sampler are lifted (although not completely as represented on the long player) from the album as it says on the title - a sampler. Released September 2008, the sampler was produced by Pete Abbott, who has worked as live engineer for many acts including Guillemots, Athlete, Travis, Editors, Spiritualized.
