A Darker Manifest Demo 2008 (DIY) A young group from Flanders (Belgium), A Darker Manifest releases their first demo. It starts with a calm intro before cutting to the chase. Its music is defined by the classics of the genre: heavy riffing (but not annoying, not at all), lots of double bass – which brings a nice edge to it all, fast pace; but they’re not afraid to add some lighter touch that’s more melodic, without becoming another one of those generic metalcore bands. The Mosh parts are also represented here, but it’s not excessive. The voice is really serious about the stressed parts. The song that’s most appealing to me is Silence Again, because it’s climax is well orchestrated and the rhythm is quite pleasant. The lyrics are well-written. They deal with all the lies of political hypocrisy and other recurring subjects in general. A good first demo for this young group from the H8000-scene, and yes, the Flemish scene isn’t dead yet and still has some nice surprises for us.
