Album
Delicate Fade is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Common Children, released in 1997 on Tattoo Records, a division of Benson/Provident. The record followed their 1996 debut Skywire and marked a change toward a more melodic and layered sound. After touring in support of Skywire, Common Children released a limited live album titled Setlist in 1996, which included early versions of songs that later appeared on Delicate Fade. Recording sessions for the album were held at Neverland Studios in Berry Hill, Tennessee, with production by Steve Hindalong of The Choir. The band lineup consisted of Marc Byrd (vocals, guitars), Drew Powell (bass), and Hampton Taliaferro (drums). Guest vocals were provided by Christine Glass on the track “Whisper.” Delicate Fade was released in 1997 with a total running time of approximately 58 minutes. The album cover featured abstract artwork consistent with the reflective tone of the record. The single “Eyes of God” was issued to Christian rock radio in 1998 and reached No. 5 on the Christian charts. A promotional music video was also produced for the song. The album contains a mix of atmospheric, ambient-influenced arrangements alongside guitar-driven rock tracks. Its sequencing begins with “Stains of Time,” a string-led introduction, before transitioning into louder songs such as “Pulse.” Lyrical content addresses themes of faith, struggle, and redemption. While Delicate Fade did not achieve mainstream commercial success, i
