DeadRising marks Scarlxrd's 13th studio album, as well as his second album since going independent. The album's name was one of four album names teased back in 2019 in a now-deleted Instagram story. Released on October 29, 2021, this album is also the second Scarlxrd album to come out that same year, releasing just 8 months after "Dxxm II". It was rumored in July of 2021 by Scarlxrd himself that this album was going to contain only 13 tracks and was going to include features, making it his first album to do so. However, that ended up not being the case. Singles "Yxu Knxw What I'm Like." and "Grind." were used as promo tracks for DeadRising but ended up being cut out of the album by Scarlxrd, stating on Reddit that the tracks on the actual album were much harder than the singles he was putting out prior to the release. These tracks were rumored to end up as bonus tracks, however, they did not make the final cut when the album was released. Singles "Real Talk." and "Can't Stxp." featuring Lil Darkie were also planned to be apart of the album, but were cut out for unknown reasons. Scarlxrd would release the official DeadRising trailer on his YouTube channel on September 24th, a month prior to the release of the album.
