“cypress grove” is glaive’s first EP, released under Interscope Records. The project features 7 tracks, 3 of which were released as singles. Every song on this EP has an “Official Audio” release, each with their own cover art. Most of these songs were going to be released as standalone singles before this project, but glaive eventually decided to put them all into an EP after being signed to Interscope. A total of four music videos were eventually released for the songs “astrid”, “dnd”, “touché”, and “pissed”. Though initially expected, the singles “arsenic” and “clover” were not released on cypress grove due to glaive uploading them through Soundcloud’s “Repost”, which owns the rights to an artist’s songs up to one year. The project’s name, “cypress grove”, is the name of an unreleased song which would later be recorded with different vocals and uploaded as touché. The song “cypress grove” would never be released, but rather turned into the concept and setting of the EP. “Cypress Grove Ln" is a real street located in Flat Rock, North Carolina (close to where glaive grew up). There were multiple pictures taken here to be used as the cover for "cypress grove", and the location can also be seen in the "dnd" music video. Through the release of "cypress grove", glaive would be put under the limelight of the hyperpop scene and would go on to release “all dogs go to heaven” as his 2nd EP, and last released under his initial record deal with Interscope.
