This was the last album of Cutting Crew. After the release of their disappointing second album, “The Scattering”, bassist Colin Farley and drummer Martin Beedle had left the band. Nick Van Eede and Kevin MacMichael continued, delivering “Compus Mentus”. The album failed to chart, and Cutting Crew disbanded in 1993. The albums name, "Compus Mentus" is a misspelling of "Compos Mentis" meaning "of sound mind; sane" in Latin.
