Album
Arguably Better Than Ezra's best work, Closer is often described as "bammin' slammin' bootylicious." Most Ezralites agree that the kickoff, "Misunderstood," was a perfect way to start off the record. It eases into "Extra Ordinary," the only released single on the album. The themes in this album are similar to most BTE themes: don't let life fly past without a souvenir. Whether it be seven horse men and an angel, or a bag of beef jerky. The early rendition of "A Lifetime," is sweet compared to what it became later. Unfortunately, the reason you've "never heard" of such a spectacular album is that Beyond Records went bankrupt before they could release another single. Closer went out of print in early 2007 and was reissued in October 2009. The new features were a striking red cover, and two new songs; "Simple Song" and "Screwed Up And Beautiful." Closer reached #110 on Billboard charts and "Extra Ordinary" placed (for the last time) on the Modern Rock charts. It also placed on Adult Top 40 (Wikipedia).
