Chillax is the debut album of the Jochen Eisentraut Trio who excell at atmospheric piano pieces and songs with a jazz flavour. Jochen Eisentraut is a composer and writer who lives in the Wild Welsh mountains of Snowdonia on the northwestern fringe of Europe. He is influenced by the landscape and dramatic weather of this region as well as by its culture with its living celtic language in which he also sings. On Chillax, Eisentraut is joined by Ged Lynch (who works with Peter Gabriel and Goldfrapp) on drums and Owen Evans (who works with Gruff Rhys and Huw Warren) on double bass. The album is understated and and chilled as the name suggests, with some surprises along the way, and a freedom of expression which is akin to an impressionist painting.
