Album
chain evasive by the imaginary lines was released on December 29, 2009 on ice vii music. The album contains 14 tracks and was written, recorded and produced by sole band member Scott Belmore between April and November of 2009. chain evasive has been described as βa collection of songs that musically and lyrically revolve around themes of addiction and spiritual identity; explored through lyrics that are often conversations between two main characters - one a human on Earth and the other a traveler from the Jovian moon of Europa." chain evasive is not a concept album in the typical sense, as the characters and story are more of a backdrop than a centerpiece and are not considered necessary to be understood (or even acknowledged) by the listener to appreciate the songs individually or the album as a whole. Lyrics for all songs on chain evasive can be found here Sonically, the record was inspired by many of Belmore's favorite albums including Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, The Cure's Disintegration and Radiohead's OK Computer among many others. The music is guitar driven but focuses more on chord changes and melody than on guitar riffs specifically. Electric and acoustic guitars mixed with percussion, bass guitar, synthesizers and piano create an atmosphere that can range from subdued and ambient to mid-tempo rock, pop and progressive rock (often in the same song). Hints of shoegaze, electronic, industrial rock and neo-psychedelia can be found throughout chain evasive
