Celebrate the Bones is the second album and third release for industrial artist Joe Flash. The album was released on October 20, 2008 on mp3 and October 31, 2008 on cd. Recorded from 2006 - 2008, the lyrical focus of Celebrate the Bones is social, political, and spiritual, covering subjects of war, poverty, death, disease, greed, and fascism. It is a very different perspective from that of his debut electro album Mayaobsession (2006), which sarcastically explores sex and relationships. On Celebrate the Bones, Joe Flash returns to his root influence of industrial electronic music, however carrying along the danceable electro of his earlier efforts. His passion for analog synthesizers and drum machines is apparent on this album. There is a haunting and slightly repressed rage in the the dark and primordial caverns which make up its ambiance, but the vocals are warm and soft, sometimes building up to a gutteral scream and never quite making one. The rage is heard more in the hard-hitting, drum machine beats and distorted bass leads. During the course of the two and a half years that were spent making Celebrate the Bones, the artist moved around a lot and recorded in several different locations. The first few songs that were written were recorded in Asheville, North Carolina, and the rest of the material was written and recorded in Florida, Tennessee, and finally finished in Texas where Joe Flash currently lives.
