Released in 1998, Jason Rubenstein's second full-length instrumental LP is an eclectic mix, and range, of music. There's the late-night pure ambient of both "Image" tracks, the prog-rock-meets-celtic jam of "Siobhan", and a few proggy, fusiony, soundtrack-like pieces. "The First Day", "Evocation" and "Invocation" are an example of the latter. "Where the Hell Am I?" stands out as a technical, rapid-fire trio setpiece, while "Cathedral" and "Wired Angel" are downtempo staples. Finally, "The Gate" could be a soundtrack to a film.
