In an era not too long ago it seemed like the most natural thing in the world to any music lover to sit in front of the radio and record favorite songs, or to take off an afternoon to sit down and sift through records to make a nice mixtape for a friend to enjoy. Make them discover new bands, new sounds or simply celebrate the act of sharing music as a way of inspiring one another. Though it transformed into a very different thing today, this habit gladly never really vanished… yet we know a lot has changed ever since. As a music lover, Kirrin Island never stopped sharing new sounds, always finding ways to spread the word about music he discovers, be it through his vibrant work as a DJ or his own imprint HeiFi Records. Over the years he was involved in many different projects, all circling around electronic music, samplers, keyboards, field recording and self-made beats. Last year’s Monkeypuzzle EP was a head-start into new territory, a first release of solo material. Soon after it was released he began to flesh out more material, alone or in collaboration with many friends, among them Enna, A Thousand Vows or fellow conspirator Nichtfreund. Steadily he shared new song after new song over months, hinting at a full length record that might be on the horizon.
