Album
Kelly Richey evidently has two “direct pipelines”, one to Jimi Hendrix and one to Stevie Ray Vaughn! Her playing on these two album is described as “Sounds like SRV on LSD”! The first track of Carry The Light is entitled Leave The Blues Behind and seems to signal Kelly’s shift from more traditional blues to the blues-rock/Southern rock style of Stevie Ray Vaughn while maintaining the psychodelic glisses, over-driven amps and other effects of Jimi Hendrix. In fact, the album title itself may be symbolic of carrying the light of both Jimi and Stevie, but only Kelly knows that for sure! In Speechless Kelly pays homage to her spiritual side and continues the psychodelic blues-rock/Southern rock theme in these instrumental pieces which showcase her phenomenal guitar playing. For “wilted flower children of the sixties” or those who grew up around SRV in the 80’s Carry The Light and Speechless should be in your collection! Kelly Richey is destined to go down as one of the greatest guitar players in history! User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
