In her academic pursuits, Kerry delved into the world of visual culture, utilizing Roland Barthes' work to theorize about the enduring impact of images associated with Antarctic exploration in the early 20th Century. The album's cover art is a creation of Ronnie van Hout, a prominent artist from Aotearoa New Zealand known for his early graphic design work with Flying Nun Records. Ronnie shared a deep and enduring friendship with Kerry. The gatefold album includes the text for ten poems, each written as a heartfelt homage to Kerry McCarthy.
