Album
Cables was recorded in three days at Broadcast Studios in Adelaide, Australia, mastered to vinyl by Golden Mastering in Ventura, California and pressed at Abbey Road Studios in London. Resultant from this experience is largely a live recording of the band, which exemplifies their dynamic and spontaneous approach to creating music. Cables is essentially as you would hear their performance live, and taking this stripped back approach to recording allowed them to capture the raw momentum of their music. Cables is to be released on vinyl and digital formats only on Thursday 8th July. When recently interviewed, the question about the decision to only release the album on vinyl popped up. this is what singer Lachlan Wilson had to say: "CD's have become redundant, with people either purchasing the songs via itunes or illegally downloading them. There is now a greater emphasis (with these modern mediums) on the single in the fashion of the early 60's. Our music is orientated to be listened to in its totality. Vinyl is more likely to force you to have that linear experience, without skipping certain tracks. Similarly it is something that you can physically hold and associate, and I think that is a powerful thing. These factors combined with the digital download allow us to get the best of both worlds - accessibly to a larger audience and an easier distribution which is not afford to us by vinyl."
