about this album

An acid/funk jazz venture, BUMP was released in 2000 and featured Scofield touring with a new band which featured: JESSE MURPHY / BASS: A Santa Cruz, CA native, he studied music at USC and plays both acoustic and electric bass. Now a resident of Brooklyn, Murphy is very active in the New York music scene. AVI BORTNICK / RHYTHM GUITAR: Avi was born in Israel and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended the University of California-Berkeley and later studied at the University of Sao Paulo. His band the Dry Look was an early 1990's pioneer of the groove-jazz movement in San Francisco. ERIC KALB / DRUMS: Born in Huntington, New York and then moved to Boston where he attended Berklee College of Music. Eric is currently a member of the nationally popular groove band Deep Banana Blackout - unifying and driving the group with his powerful drumming and flowing blond tresses. MARK DEGIANTONI / KEYS: Born in San Francisco and is classically trained, although frequents the urband Keyboard sampler. He is a member of the internationally acclaimed band Soul Coughing.
