I created this album for my good friend Justin, knowing that he would appreciate the free-flowing nature of these jams. The first piece “Bucket Brigade” is partially inspired by Justin’s affinity for Buckethead and his music. It is an E minor improvisation starting with an E minor add 9 modality - a chord I find both beautiful and somewhat haunting… akin to Outer Space Blues. I like to build these long jams starting from a mellower melodic space and build to a soul-screaming frenzy. This whole album was straight record of several late evenings - no editing or multi-tracking… so there is a bit of stumbling about here and there. The layers are built with the Boss Loop Station. I kept them fairly spare for the most part, adding more layers as the intensity builds. There is something very therapeutic about wailing like that. Part 2 gets into a sweeter sounding progression of Cmaj7/G to E minor… still a bit outer space (my Dootzeronian heritage shining through).
