Album
Debut album from British singer-songwriter, Mick Nolan, effortlessly blends folk, rock and pop to create a warm and distinctive sound. Reviewers have compared his style to David Gray, Neil Young and Crosby, Stills & Nash and have described his vocals as ‘charismatic’ and ‘timeless’. Additional influences include Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Sting. The ten original tracks on the album were selected for their melodic qualities and staying power. The aim was to produce an easy-listening album that would appeal to a wide audience. Mood varies from the upbeat, celebratory ‘Ecstasy’ to the gentle and reflective final track of the album, ‘When I Close My Eyes’. Lyrics are rooted firmly in real life and address universal themes of love, loss and change. The album was recorded at Ten21 Recording Studios in Maidstone, Kent and produced by Sean Kenny, who shares Mick’s musical aspirations. To ensure that the energy and vitality of the sound was preserved in the studio, they chose not to use a click track during the recording process. This means that the songs have room to breathe and have retained their natural rhythm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
