Highlander were an early 90’s electronic folk rock band from Fife, Scotland. Their only studio album was the hit 1992 release, Born To Be A Warrior. It is a concept album following the story of the fictional Rory - a volunteer fighter in Robert the Bruce’s rebel army in the war against the oppressive English king, Edward I. It charts the progress of Bruce’s eventually successful campaign to become King and have Scotland recognised as an independent nation once again. Highlander never recreated the success of that first release and it now fills the shelves of gift shops up and down Scotland, most notably in Eilean Donan castle in Skye as it features on the front cover of later CD reprint of the album.
