Album
Blackhorse is a real-life Rocky story without the happy Hollywood ending. This Texas 3-piece southern rock band produced and self-pressed this album to use as a promotional item to secure live gigs and sell at shows. Despite this, the sound is incredible for a self-produced album. Sadly, the band was never picked up by a major label and this album remains their sole output. A CD was reissued in 1993, however only 1000 pressings were made. What a shame! Thank god the digital era allows this album to survive. So how do they sound? Imagine a little ZZ Top, a pinch of Molly Hatchett, a slice of Blackfoot and tad of early Point Blank and throw it in a blender; mix well, and you end up with something that sounds like Blackhorse. This album hits the mark if you’re into gruff ( at times) vocals, catchy riffs, tasty leads and even some harmonies thrown in the mix. Although they don’t achieve the greatness of the aforementioned bands, you can definitely hear the influences and this makes for a very enjoyable listen. So twist one up, pop a cold beer and CRANK IT UP!.....
