Album
Black Metal is the second album by Venom, and the origin of the term "black metal". It was released in 1982 and is considered one of the most important albums to the extreme metal movement, most notably the emerging thrash metal, death metal and black metal scenes of the 1980s and 1990s. Despite being a major foundation for black metal's lyrical emphasis and aesthetics, the genre itself has expanded and evolved a great deal since the album's conception. The original cover art was made by the band's bassist and singer, Conrad "Cronos" Lant. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
