Binn Bhan “To hell or to Connacht” Binn Bhan (White Peak) was recordered in Galway, Ireland 2006-8 mainly during rainy and windy nights, very close to the edge of the οcean. It tries to capture the wildness and breathtaking beauty of the Irish west coast landscape and atmosphere, a place of history and sorrow. Binn Bhan is the highest peak in Connemara, one of the most beautiful places in earth. Technically, the tracks owe a lot to my Taylor 414ce acoustic guitar, Fender Strat Americana and Fender Precision Bass. Drums came mainly from loops. In “lettershina” and “leaving the kingdom” I have played the banjo just bought from Burlington, Vermont. Not a great banjo player ;-( but I still like the sound. I recorded everything in my laptop using an M-Audio LUNA mic for the acoustic parts and pluging the others directly in a M-Audio Fast Track Pro sound card. The recordings took place at the Binn Bhan estate, Western Distributor Road, Galway. So binn bhan in the title has a dual reference. 1. inishbofin This is a small island just off the west coast. Waves reached up to 13 meters high one afternoon in the winter 2007.
