Album
The Cult regrouped in 2000 with a renewed sense of purpose and drive. The bands last release of new material (1994 self titled) was half baked and out of step with the alt movement of the time. The band sounds alive on this recording thanks to hard rocking guitars and a bit more crunch then the bands 80's heyday. Former Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum(drummer from the classic Cult album Sonic Temple) re-joins Astbury and Duffy to round out the strongest line up in the bands history. Songs like Rise and Take The Power sound up to date and would feel at home on any rock radio playlist. Having a major label backing this album and allowing for fantastic production certainly help this CD as well. Shortly after this release however, The Cult were dropped from the major label and did not get much support on tour, opening for bands like Aerosmith despite having a large following and being able to fill out a playlist live at least twice as long as the time allotted. To sum it up, hard rocking Cult CD with some of the bands finest moments. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
