Beneath Northern Skies is an EP by Danish ambient composer Fjordscape, released in April 2026 via the Canadian independent label Signal Alchemy. The release continues Fjordscape’s exploration of organic ambient and nature-infused ambient music, blending sustained synthesiser pads, subtle environmental ambience, and restrained harmonic movement to create spacious, meditative soundscapes. Centred on minimalism and clarity, the EP is characterised by slow fades, extended tonal passages, and an absence of percussive elements. The production emphasises clean, open arrangements in which each layer is given room to resonate. Rather than foregrounding melody, the compositions evolve gradually through shifts in texture and density, maintaining a calm, grounded atmosphere throughout. The focus track, “Beneath Northern Skies,” was inspired by composer Jakob Andersen’s daily meditation practice. The piece translates the physical experience of slowing the breath into sound through sustained tones and gentle spatial development. Andersen, who works primarily in Logic Pro X using virtual instruments and nature-inflected textures, draws influence from the ambient and new age traditions, particularly the minimalist approach of Norwegian composer Peder B. Helland.
