Basement Tapes contains the songs Ralphabet had written during the days of Civics, his old Bristol-based alt-rock band. Some of these were too complicated, some just needed the attention of a more advanced songwriter. They were the first songs he completed using music software and the start of an upward trajectory on this front. Much room for improvement but enough cause for pride too. Some of these songs could have been heard at Ralphabet's disparate acoustic/political/benefit gigs, though none of them have ever been done justice live.
